Essential Services and Concerns with Internet Access
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are waiting confirmation from the Victorian Government and the Chief Health Officer as to the structure and delivery of secondary education in Term 2 which at this point in time starts on Tuesday 14 April, with a student-free day and all students scheduled to return on Wednesday 15 April.
Should the Government confirm that Term 2 will commence with remote learning we will confirm via SMS communication.
Children with parents in Essential Services
In preparation for the possibility of remote learning I ask that those parents who are currently working in essential services (ambulance, fire, hospitals, medical professions etc.) and would like their children to access remote learning at St John’s Regional College during school hours to contact the school directly on 8793 2000 and provide the following: the essential service you are involved in and your child’s name. Students accessing this service will be supervised during the school day and required to attend in school uniform.
Internet or Computer Access Concerns during Remote Learning
A number of parents responded to our communication on the 27th of March over concerns for student access to either computers or reliable internet during a period of remote learning. If you have not had the opportunity to provide feedback on this issue, then please follow the instructions below by Wednesday 7 April.
Please respond YES to this SMS with the FULL NAME of your son/daughter if you have: Internet access issues at home and/or Computer access issues at home
We are currently reviewing the options we have for students without access to computers or internet during a period of remote learning with the CECV and Telstra. We will confirm arrangements for students impacted by this access issue before the commencement of Term 2.
We also take this opportunity to reassure students and parents that in the event of a school closure, teachers at the College are well prepared to deliver online learning though the SEQTA Learning Management System. This program is well-equipped to provide students with engaging online learning with regular monitoring and feedback from teaching staff.
If you have any queries or concerns, please contact the school directly on 8793 2000.
Yours sincerely,
Tim Hogan
Principal
